Confession: I love a good e-newsletter. Unfortunately, most are too frequent, too wordy, too pushy, or just not relevant to me, forcing me to hit ‘unsubscribe.’ Newsletters are a powerful web marketing tool if they are used correctly. They’re a personalized, targeted communication that can help retain and grow your community. Including links to articles is also a way to showcase your knowledge of the industry and establish thought leadership.
I wanted practice creating a newsletter, so I created one for Women in Tech World, a nonprofit organization I volunteer with. I made the templates from scratch and featured real content from our organization, such as events and news happening that week. I focused on messaging and choice of graphics that would catch the reader’s attention and have them click on our Call to Action.
